The Utah Summer Games Triathlon
June 18, 2011
Jeff Gardner and Colby Neilson of Tailwind Races LC, will be the new race directors for the 2011 Utah Summer Games Triathlon event. Jeff and Colby are both actively involved in the local triathlon community and both are finishers of many triathlon, running, and biking events. Their experience as race directors include the 2005 USG, the 2005 and 2006 Kanab Triathlon, the 2005 Kokopelli Triathlon, the 2007 SHAC Triathlon, and the 2010 Ironman St. George Triathlon .
New this year, the Summer Games Triathlon will be held at Gunlock Reservoir. “We hope the athletes are as excited as we are for this change of venue,” says Gardner. “We felt it was time to add some variety to the race scene in southern Utah. We have such found memories of participating in the original SGTri on this course, so we thought we would bring it back.”
The course will be point-to-point with two transitions with the swim and T1 at the Gunlock Reservoir. Following a fast downhill bike course, T2 and the finish will be at Snow Canyon High School in St. George, Utah. This will be a fast, scenic course that you won’t want to miss. Competitive athletes will be shooting for the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. First-time athletes will be spoiled at this great new venue. Families will enjoy watching from multiple spots along the course.
Tailwind Races LC, is excited to be the event coordinator for the 2011 USG Triathlon and continue the 20+ year tradition of this race. Visit www.utahsummergames.org for more information and to register. See you in June!
