Saint to Sinners Bike Relay
July 29-30, 2011
By Jess Perry
This was my second year racing the Saints to Sinners relay and I’m sure to do it next year!
One of the best aspects of the relay is that teams can compete as either a 10 or 5 person team. As a 10 person team the course is very manageable for less experienced riders or for teams interested in speed by drafting with another teammate. As a 5 person team you have the opportunity to stretch the course out and double the individual riding miles of a 10 man team, making the race a bit more extreme. The 5 person team definitely caters to the experienced rider!
Saints to Sinners offers its riders a unique opportunity to bike in areas you would otherwise never have ridden or really even visited. The course takes you through Utah’s beautiful countryside which I hadn’t seen before; and to be riding a bike through the pretty terrain adds to the unique experience! My two favorite spots on the course are Candy Mountain and the ascent past Panquitch Lake to the summit of Cedar Breaks. Both areas I had never been to before until Saints to Sinners took me there!
The course boasts great terrain, whether speeding through the flats through Gunnison to Richfield, climbing Utah Mountain, or descending Cedar Breaks at 51 MPH, you are certain to become a lifelong racer in the Saints to Sinners bike relay!
