Mizuno BREATH THERMO ®

By: Andrea Daily

We are in deep into the winter months, and thought you should know about a great new line of winter running apparel, the Mizuno Breath Thermo ®. This clothing is made from an exclusive fabric called Polyacrylate which pulls moisture away from your body and converts it to heat. You are able to wear less, stay warmer, and train longer in the cold temperatures.

To prove this theory, along with the clothing pieces, Mizuno sent samples of the fibers of the fabric with a small bottle of water. We were told to pour a drop of water onto the fabric and hold it in our hands to actually feel it warm.

After that successful test came the “real” test of taking to the road on cold, winter mornings. During December 2010 and January 2011, I was able to wear the bio gear tights and thermo stretch crew neck in 30 and 40 degree weather. About ten minutes into my run my body began to sweat, and sure enough the clothing would heat up and keep me warm. Being skeptical of clothing technology claims, I was pleasantly surprised by this success.

In the past after an hour of running my body would chill. With the Breath Thermo ® I felt great for 2 hour runs and was even able to keep the clothing on after the run without getting cold. Even better, the fabric is thin, lightweight, form fitting, and very comfortable. These will be key clothing pieces not only for running, but for cycling, skiing, and hiking. At $60-$70 for the tops and $70-$80 for the pants, the price is certainly not low, however, runners know that the proper gear makes all the difference for a winter run.

This line has also received great feedback on other gear review websites. Visit www.mizunousa.com to learn more, or check with your local specialty running store. Thank you to Mizuno for introducing this new line of fabulous products to us.
