Brooks Cascadia 6

By: Sheena Jibson

I recently made the switch to the dark side.....trail running. After years on the road, I figured, why not? As excited as I was, I grew hesitant to leave behind my trusty dusty Brooks Adrenaline. I've worn Adrenalines for years, and each time I slipped them on to run, it was like carrying around my security blanket with me. Comfortable. Safe. Reliant. So I took them to the trails. Through the mud, the uphills and downhills, in to uncharted waters.

Bad idea.

While their road performance can't be beat, when it came to dirt and mud, I was slipping and sliding everywhere. My feet hurt. They were filthy and wet. I needed trail shoes.

The next time I headed up the mountain, I donned my shiny new Brooks Cascadia 6. Boy were they pretty, and surprisingly comfortable--really comfortable right out of the box, but I was still a bit apprehensive.....after all, I was cheating on my beloved Adrenalines.

I was less than a mile up the steep rocky path and never looked back--I was in love. I couldn't believe how well they fit my feet--hugging them as we maneuvered every dip, crack, and crevice, yet sturdy enough to protect my feet and ankles. Carrying me up the rough surface of the mountain like it was a fluffy pile of mashed potatoes. I took them to the mud (my favorite part)--my feet stayed solid on the ground--no slipping. Gravel--still steady. Sand--no problem! What can't they do?!

They're breathable, keep moisture off the feet, and dry quickly after pouncing through puddles (you know you will). They clean up easily, and have a toe bumper to better protect your pedicure (or lack-there-of). My feet have never been so happy....just don't tell my road shoes.
